PROFESSOR BEACH GOT FAT!

Friday, November 4th, 2011

Okay, so maybe it was one too many Strawberry Daiquiris on the beach at sunset… or maybe just way too many
Cheeseburgers in Paradise.  No excuses, Professor beach got FAT! 225 lbs FAT.  After years of exploring and enjoying beaches around the world it just wasn't fun anymore. No more fun because when I got to the beach I was ashamed to take off my shirt. Ever feel that way?

My last beach exploring trip to Florida really did it. I just sat in a beach chair under an umbrella. Didn't even want to swim or walk on the beach because I was just too uncomfortable in my skin. Just too much of me “in my skin”. Fast forward two months and I'm down to 205 lbs and on my way to a fit and healthy lifestyle. Join me on my pursuit of health and once again walking the beach with my shirt off.   Watch my progress and see how I did it here.

Natural Bridge in Aruba

Oranjestad Map

Facts about Oranjestad:
Palm Island is a small private island near Aruba that is a important tourist attraction. Used for day trips and excursions, it has two parts: The first one is a small beach area which extends a short distance into the ocean. However it is forbidden to go far from the beach, so walls were built to keep small children from wandering off.

The second part is a water park, and has waterslides and a giant pool. The pool was actually designed for children as it is very shallow, which makes it practically impossible for any child to drown.

The island also has an “all-you-can-eat” buffet and beverage, and giftshops. Snorkelling is one of the main activities on the island and Aruba boasts many species of fish – including the famous blue parrotfish. It is forbidden to fish or take any wild animals away from the island. Due to this strict rule, the fish that swim in the shallows are used to the presence of people, and do not swim away when swimmers and divers are nearby. Palm island closes at 6:00.

Oranjestad (English: Orangetown), with a population of 32,748 as of 2008, is the capital and most important city of Aruba located on the southern coast near the western end of the island. In the local language, Papiamento, Oranjestad is often referred to simply as “Playa”.
